About Us

Society for Rural Health, Education and Development (SRHED) is a registered non-profit, non-religious, and non-political organization established in 1988 with the vision of empowering marginalized communities through sustainable development initiatives. Based in Jodichinthala Village, Yadamari Mandal, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh, SRHED has been serving rural communities for more than three decades by addressing critical issues related to health, education, livelihoods, women's empowerment, environmental conservation, safe drinking water, and community development.Our organization believes that every individual deserves equal opportunities to lead a healthy, educated, and dignified life. Through community participation, innovative programs, and partnerships with national and international organizations, we strive to create sustainable solutions that improve the quality of life for vulnerable families.

History

Founded on 2nd May 1988, SRHED began its journey with a simple yet powerful goal—to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged rural communities through sustainable development initiatives.Initially focusing on health awareness and educational support, the organization gradually expanded its activities to include women's empowerment, livelihood promotion, environmental conservation, child welfare, water and sanitation, vocational training, disaster relief, and community development.Throughout its journey, SRHED has successfully collaborated with numerous government agencies, national institutions, and international development partners to implement impactful projects benefiting thousands of rural families. The organization's commitment to transparency, community participation, and sustainable development has earned the trust of supporters and funding partners from countries including the Netherlands, Australia, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Canada, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States.

Today, with more than 35 years of dedicated service, SRHED continues to work towards creating stronger, healthier, and more resilient rural communities.Over the years, SRHED has continuously adapted its programs to address emerging social and environmental challenges while remaining committed to its core values of equity, inclusion, and sustainability. By strengthening community institutions, promoting local leadership, and encouraging active participation from beneficiaries, the organization has helped build self-reliant communities capable of sustaining long-term development.
